What is your favorite Lakeview Orchestra memory?
My favorite memory is playing Rite of Spring. I was fortunate to be in a college orchestra that played challenging rep (e.g. Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima, Mahler 5, Petrushka, Beethoven 9, Till Eulenspiegel), but in my years there, we never programmed the Rite. Frankly, I assumed that I would go the rest of my loser life without playing it, unless I funneled another 6+ years of my life into a PhD program at a school with a strong nonmajor orchestra. It was incredibly powerful to be able to realize a longtime musical goal with such accomplished musicians.
