What’s Interesting About This Concert

  • Emmanuel Chabrier's España, rhapsody for orchestra was inspired by the composer's tour of Spain in 1882, and incorporates many of the traditional Spanish dance rhythms he heard during his visit.

  • The Chicago Chamber Choir, founded in 1996, makes their debut appearance with Lakeview Orchestra on this program.

  • Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem is a departure from the typical setting of a Catholic Requiem Mass; Fauré omits the usual “doom & gloom” to instead focus on peaceful existence in paradise.

This concert will last approximately 90 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.

The appearance of the Chicago Chamber Choir is made possible by Gregory M. Zinkl & Thomas B Braham.
